About Reiki

The word “Reiki” (pronounced ray-key) comes from the Japanese ideograms “rei,” meaning universal or God’s wisdom, and “ki,” meaning life force. Reiki is spiritually guided life force energy.

Ki, or life force energy, is not singular to Japan. In Chinese it is known as Chi or Qi, and in Sanskrit it is Prana. Although it has many names, the vital energy itself is recognized across cultures and regions. Many ancient and well-established practices around the world, such as acupuncture, Tai Chi, and pranayama, are dedicated to cultivating and balancing this life force energy.

It flows within and around all living things, and is the energy and breath that keeps us living and healthy. When we experience traumatic or stressful events, this energy can become trapped or deficient in certain areas in our bodies and leave us susceptible to illnesses or imbalances.

Reiki addresses the entire person—body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Described as peaceful, relaxing, nurturing, and energizing, it evokes a sense of a glowing, wonderful radiance that envelops and fills the individual. Reiki offers numerous benefits, including alleviating pain and anxiety, expediting recovery from illnesses and injuries, eliminating toxins from the body, overcoming addictions, facilitating healthy grieving, achieving equilibrium between the mind and body, and promoting overall well-being. Many individuals experience profound physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing during and after a Reiki session.

Though Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not associated with any specific religion. It is never intended to replace professional medical care but works beautifully alongside it. For decades hospitals, nursing homes, and healthcare facilities have included Reiki in their healing practices to treat their patients holistically. There are no known contraindications for Reiki being used in combination with traditional health care.

In a Reiki session, the practitioner channels Reiki through their body and hands to the person receiving treatment. Some practitioners use light touch to administer Reiki, but for both my comfort and yours I prefer to hover my hands a few inches over your body.

Because Reiki is energy, it can be transmitted across any distance and is effectively sent remotely with distance healing. The energy heals just the same as it would in an in-person session.

About Me

Welcome to Sacred Sky Reiki! I’m Andi Batt, a Reiki Master trained in the traditions of Usui and Holy Fire® III Reiki.

When starting my spiritual journey 4 years ago, one of the first things I discovered and loved was Reiki. While visiting family shortly after my son was born, my uncle introduced me to Reiki with a short but powerful session. The energy was tangible; it enveloped me in a familiar and serene embrace. As a brand new mother to a 3 month old, the peaceful and loving Reiki was like medicine for my frayed and exhausted nerves. From that moment on, I needed to be a part of this remarkable healing and energy. I took my first set of classes a year later, and then finished my Reiki mastery 6 months after that.

Most of my life I have wondered what my purpose is, and have felt this deep calling and longing from within. I have always known that I wanted to help people. I worked many years in senior care and found happiness and satisfaction in aiding the elderly, but it never felt quite right. It wasn’t until I discovered Reiki that I began to feel guided and inspired by something outside of myself to continue this journey. I love Reiki and it is my deepest hope to share with you some of the joy and healing it has brought me.
